Fall of Giants - Ken Follett

This blog is basically a way for me to keep track of my thoughts, among my thoughts are many of th books that I have read and am reading.. so from now on, I have decided to incorporate some of the book reviews that I have contributed to my profile on www.goodreads.com as books truly fall within things that can describe me (I love to read).

So here is a copy of my review and character list from the novel Fall of Giants by Ken Follett

Fall of Giants (The Century Trilogy #1)Fall of Giants by Ken Follett

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

As a fan of historical fiction, I absolutely adored reading Fall of Giants. It was beautifully written and narrated in the third person during the years of WWI. It captured the lives and struggles of people of all ages and classes in various countries around the world during this period.

Once I got into Fall of Giants it was really difficult to put down. It was also really easy to fall in love with the characters and get to know each of ther personalities. As a reader I felt a connection with many of the characters (especially Lady Maud, Ethel and Billy)to the point that I could sympathize with their remorse, happiness, and guilt.

On the other hand, there is a lot of political talk about various governments and I found it difficult sometimes to follow along... At first it was difficult to associate certain characters with the country they are from because a lot of them travel to the other countries the book talks about. It was also hard to decide which side each of the countries were on.

Here is a list of countries that the book mentions organized into their corresponding groups:

Allies

- USA
- Canada
- British Empire (England, Wales, etc...)
- Russia
- France

Axis

- Germany
- Austria-Hungary
